Positive earnings lift Wall Street to all-time highs, again
US stocks and Indices rose again to new all-time highs on Thursday, lifted by positive data from the financial sector’s earnings reports. Charles Schwab (up 4%), MasterCard (up 1.93%) and Morgan Stanley (up 6.61%) were some of the notable winners. The SPX500 broke 3,300 as it gained another 0.84%, the NSDQ100 settled above 9,100 after adding 1.06%, and the DJ30 turned the 29,000 mark into support as it bounced up to 29,300, gaining 0.92% more.

Today’s highlights: Cryptocurrencies show impressive gains, again
Little rest for crypto bull: After retracing for most of yesterday, Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrencies returned to positive momentum. Bitcoin (up 3%) inches towards the $9,000 mark, Ethereum Classic soars 20% and is just shy of reaching $10, while its big brother, Ethereum, is up “only” 4.5%.
A few pennies more: JC Penny, a popular US department stores brand, shot up almost 10% yesterday, potentially breaking the downtrend it’s been in for the past 2 years. JC Penny is down around 90% since early 2017.
Commodities remain stable: While the stock and crypto markets are making headlines, commodities have taken the back seat and remain mostly stable: Oil remained in the $58-$59 range, Gold still trades at $1,550-$1,555, and NATGAS finds support at the $2 mark.
Europe opens mixed: The FRA40 and GER30 opened 0.10% and 0.55% higher respectively, while the UK100 opened -0.40% lower.
Asian markets mixed: Similar to the US markets, most of the Asian markets are also showing positive figures: The JPN225 is up 0.45%, HKG50 is up 0.13% while China50 is retraracing 0.05%.
Volatility expected for GBP: Monthly Retail Sales reports are due in the UK at 9:30 GMT, potentially impacting the GBPUSD and EURGBP.
